Business consultant Jose Carlos Hausknecht reports on economic outlook for Brazilian agribusiness sector
CAMPINAS, Brazil – At a year-end gathering in Cascavel, Parana State, Brazil on Nov. 16 and 17, Aviagen® shared with customers the positive market outlook for the Ross 308® AP (AP95) broiler breeders, as well as Brazil’s economy and its agricultural sector.
Customers were treated to an appearance by special guest speaker Jose Carlos Hausknecht, an MB Agro consultant who offered his insight and predictions for “Agribusiness and the Economic Situation for Brazil in 2018."
Positive economic outlook
During his presentation, Hausknecht demonstrated the upswing in Brazil’s economy following the recent recession and political landscape, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) projection increasing from 0.7-1 percent in 2017 to 3-3.5 percent in 2018.
Agriculture is historically one of the main foundations of Brazil's economy, and poultry production has become an integral part of the market. In fact, Brazil is among the three largest poultry producers worldwide, holding the position of the largest poultry exporter globally since 2004.
Located on the southeastern coast of Brazil and bordered on the north by São Paulo, Parana State is important to Aviagen’s business. It has the fifth largest GDP in Brazil, with a significant amount coming from the agribusiness sector.
Aviagen has experienced a steady growth in market share in Parana State and throughout Brazil in 2017 mainly due to exceptional Ross 308 AP performance in the field.
Successful Parana State celebration
Following Hausknecht’s presentation, the Aviagen team and its customers in Parana State had the opportunity for further idea sharing and relationship building during a dinner event.
“The conference was a celebration of the excellent year we’ve had in Parana State, where we’ve been able to strengthen our relationship with our customers,” says Aviagen Brazil regional sales supervisor Luciano Mecchi.
“I enjoyed meeting with our customers in this significant region and learning of their challenges and ideas that will help us enhance our service to them,” added Aviagen Brazil business manager Abilio Alessandri.
“Our widespread popularity in Parana State and Brazil is mainly due to the superb performance and efficiency of the Ross 308 AP broiler breeder. The broiler excellence of the 308 AP has fueled the success of Aviagen customers, as well as the growth of the industry in Brazil as a whole,” adds Aviagen Latin America technical service manager Marco Araujo.
